One-Day Trail Riding Trips with Marsha Johnson These trips usually occur on holidays, and Saturdays and /or Sundays, if other Flying M Ranch activities are not previously scheduled. Rides last approximately two to four hours. Travel time is additional. Departure times are dependent on the season and length of the trip. Trailer(s) depart on time. The group does not wait on late arrivals.Marsha leads groups to Pedernales Falls State Park (Johnson City), Parrie Haynes Ranch (Killeen), Shaffer Bend LRCA Park and McKinney Roughs State Park (Bastrop), and Franklin Ranch (Blanco) in addition to private acreage available to Marsha.
Bringing Your Own Horse on One-Day Trips
Riders may use their own horses. Please arrive in time to have your horse cleaned, saddled and bridled and ready for the “load up” announcement. Horses are required to have current Coggins test and be freshly shod. The terrain is too rocky for an unshod horse. Bring all the supplies your horse will need for the day.
Using Marsha’s Horse on One-Day Trips
Those without a trail savvy horse may rent one of Marsha’s trail horses for $50.00 for the day. This rental fee covers the cost of the horse, shoeing, tack and horse supplies.
Safety Requirements
All riders must sign a release of liability before departing on the trip.
Riders should bring their own water and/ or snacks and a method to carry them on the ride.
For the group’s riding safety, new rider/ horse teams must be assessed by Marsha prior to their first Flying M Ranch trip. Riders and horses not evaluated prior to the trip will need to delay their travel until another trip.
Single Day Trail Ride Costs
The cost (Marsha’s leadership and mentoring, fuel, horse hauling, and horse rental, if applicable) of these trips is shared between participants, so it will vary with the number of persons, horses and mileage driven. For cost estimates, contact the Flying M Ranch email flyingm@prismnet.com
Payment (cash or check) is due upon return to the Flying M Ranch.
Meals and/ or snack stops are paid for by the individual.
